The Triathlon

Yesterday we did the triathlon. We started at 11;OO!!! Everyone had a buddy and they helped us to get on our bikes!!!! After the swim we ran and then biked. After 30 minutes it was my go to swim. I came out of the pool and got my shoes on then ran around our school. After about 5 minutes I was on my bike. I had to do two laps. When I was finished I ran back to the seats. I came first in my group. Everyone tried their best and we all had fun!

AWESOME ART!!

Every Wednesday we have Mrs Kroening come and teach us and we do AWESOME ART!! We are drawing insects, birds, butterflies, and dragons. We have been sketching for about four weeks. It is a long time but we have learnt a lot. It is really fun. We are turning our pictures into fun sticky dough. We learnt a lot of different sketching techniques like dots, lines, and cross hatching. We drew many different features like feet which can be webbed or not, wings that can be all different shapes, feathers with lots of little lines, and beaks for birds which can be pointy or wide. I can't wait to see what they are like in dough!!

Reading in Room 6

In reading we are learning to use word attack strategies to help us when we are stuck on a word. The word attack strategies we practised today were re-reading, reading on, and looking at the picture to give us a clue. When we were unsure of the word bushline we read on and found out that it was an imaginary line at the top of the trees. We also used the pictures in the story to help us.

Maths in Room 6

We have been learning to do hard maths and try our best. We have been doing addition, subtraction, fractions and multiplication. Sometimes we use counters and beans to help us with solve problems. We count backwards and forwards to get the right answer. We tell the person next to us how we got our answer then we tell the group. On the computers we do maths buddy or www.nz.ixl.com activities. We have learnt about patterns with numbers and shapes. In group box we do games where you roll the dice and count up what it equals and add the cards together we work with our buddy. Sometimes we get sheets to do.

Fold a Flower

On  Monday  we  made  a  flower  that  was  made   out  of  paper.  To  make  them  we had to follow the  instructions. 1. Cut  some  straight  strips  of   coloured  or  patterned  paper  7   centimetres  wide.  2.  Take  the   end  of  a  strip  of  paper  and  fold  it  over  to  meet  the  side  edge.   When  you  have  both  edges  carefully  linen  up,  run  your  fingernail   along   the   fold  you  have  made  it  sharp.  Step 3 Cut the triangle. Step 4 Place the triangle in front of you and fold the corner across. Step 5 Fold the corner across to the right and glue it down. make 4 more and glue them in a circle.

Super Sand Dunes

At the beach we had lots of fun and we learnt about sand dunes. We put on some plants and shells. We also learnt how to protect the sand dunes. We need walkways so people won't damage the plants. We learnt about the plants they were called ice plants and Marram grass they are there to protect the dunes and they are good for the animals and insects. Sand dunes are good because they protect houses and roads from getting all sand in them and breaking down. Everyone enjoyed going to the beach and we learnt a lot about sand dunes.
